Introduction to Optical Illusions

Begin with a brief explanation of what optical illusions are.
Show a few famous optical illusions on the whiteboard or printed examples.
Discuss how our eyes and brain can sometimes be tricked.

Step 2

Discussion on Famous Illusions

10 mins

Hand out printed examples of famous optical illusions.
Use the discussion questions to guide a conversation about what students see and why they think the illusions work.

Step 3

Creating Their Own Illusions

20 mins

Provide art supplies to each student.
Instruct students to create their own optical illusions using the materials provided.
Encourage creativity and offer help as needed.
