Slide Deck

Look Good, Feel Good: Why Self-Care Matters

What does 'self-care' really mean to you?
How does taking care of yourself affect how you feel about yourself?

Welcome students and introduce the day's topic: the power of self-care and first impressions. Ask an engaging question to kick things off.

More Than Just Grooming: True Self-Care

Self-care is about:

  • Physical Health: Hygiene, nutrition, sleep
  • Mental Health: Stress management, positive thinking
  • Emotional Health: Recognizing and managing feelings

When you feel good, you project confidence!

Explain that self-care isn't just about looking good, but feeling good inside and out. Connect it to self-confidence and overall well-being. This ties into the 'Connecting Self-Care and Confidence' section of the lesson plan.

Your Daily Power-Up: Building a Routine

Think about your day:

  • What does a successful morning look like?
  • What helps you wind down in the evening?

Routines create habits, and good habits lead to consistent self-care!

Introduce the idea of routines as building blocks for consistent self-care. Explain that even small, consistent actions make a big difference. This sets up the 'Building a Personal Routine' section.

Making Your Mark: The Power of First Impressions

First impressions are powerful and happen fast!

They impact:

  • Job interviews
  • Meeting new friends
  • Group projects

How do you want to be perceived?

Transition to the importance of how we present ourselves to the world. Emphasize that first impressions are often based on non-verbal cues and appearance, but also include demeanor and attitude. This aligns with the 'Discussing First Impressions' section.

Your Image, Your Message

When you practice good self-care, you send a message:

  • I am confident.
  • I am organized.
  • I respect myself and others.

This translates into a positive first impression!

Reinforce that good hygiene and self-care are key components of a positive first impression. It's about showing respect for yourself and others. Link back to confidence.

Your Action Plan: Designing Your Routine

Now it's your turn to design your ideal routine!

We'll use the My Morning and Evening Checklist Worksheet to:

  • Identify key self-care habits.
  • Create a personalized plan for success.

Introduce the worksheet and explain that students will use it to plan their routines. Encourage them to be realistic and personal.

Confidence, Connections, & You!

Remember:

  • Self-care builds self-confidence.
  • Positive first impressions open doors.
  • Your routine is yours to adapt and improve!

What's one thing you'll start doing differently today?

Conclude the slide deck by looking ahead and summarizing the benefits of their efforts. Encourage ongoing reflection.
