Session 1 Lesson Plan
By the end of Session 1, the student will identify two active listening strategies (making eye contact, paraphrasing instructions) and practice them through a short reading, role-play, and quick game.
Building foundational listening skills helps students follow directions, stay engaged, and succeed academically. Early practice of eye contact and paraphrasing boosts comprehension and teacher–student rapport.

By the end of Session 2, the student will learn to take simple notes (using keywords and shorthand) on spoken instructions and practice this skill through a guided reading, role-play, and a multi‐step listening game.
Note‐taking while listening helps students capture and recall details, stay engaged, and follow multi‐step directions accurately. Developing this skill builds independence and academic success.
