Time

10 minutes

Approach

Collaborative art project.

Materials

White poster board or large paper, Markers, crayons, or colored pencils, Pencils, Our Class Strategy Poster Project Guide, and Slide Deck

Prep

Gather Materials & Review

5 minutes

  • Gather white poster board or large paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, and pencils.
    * Review the Slide Deck content.
    * Review the Our Class Strategy Poster Project Guide.

Step 1

Connect & Activate (1 minute)

1 minute

  • Teacher: Begin by asking students if they remember the 3-step strategy we've been learning.
    * Teacher: "Today, we're going to create something special together to help us all remember our 3-step strategy!"

Step 2

Introduce & Model (3 minutes)

3 minutes

  • Teacher: Introduce the idea of a class poster as a visual reminder. Show the Slide Deck to review the 3-step strategy.
    * Teacher: "We're going to make an 'Our Class Strategy Poster' where everyone gets to add one idea or drawing about one of the steps."
    * Teacher: Briefly explain the Our Class Strategy Poster Project Guide, emphasizing collaboration and that every contribution is important.

Step 3

Guided Practice (5 minutes)

5 minutes

  • Teacher: Hand out drawing materials and assign a section of the poster (or simply let students find a space).
    * Teacher: "Think about one of the steps in our strategy. What could you draw or write to remind us of that step? It could be a picture, a word, or a small symbol."
    * Students: Work individually to add their contribution to the collaborative poster. The teacher circulates, offering guidance and encouragement, ensuring each student understands their role in the collaborative effort.
    * Teacher: Remind students to refer to the Slide Deck as needed for the steps.

Step 4

Share & Reflect (1 minute)

1 minute

  • Teacher: Once everyone has contributed (or time is up), gather students around the poster.
    * Teacher: "Look at our amazing poster! How does seeing everyone's ideas help us remember our 3-step strategy?"
    * Teacher: Briefly highlight a few student contributions and praise their collaborative spirit.
    * Teacher: Explain that the poster will be displayed in the classroom as a constant visual reminder.

Our 3-Step Strategy!

Who remembers our 3-step strategy?

It helps us with...

Today, we're going to make a poster together!

Welcome students and prepare them for a creative activity. Ask them to recall the 3-step strategy.

Create a Class Poster!

What is a collaborative poster?

  • Everyone adds one idea!
  • It helps us remember things.
  • It makes our classroom special.

Today, we're creating our "Our Class Strategy Poster"!

Introduce the idea of a collaborative poster. Explain that everyone will contribute one idea or drawing to make a big visual reminder. Mention the Project Guide briefly.

Our 3-Step Strategy: A Quick Look

Step 1: [Name of Step 1]

Step 2: [Name of Step 2]

Step 3: [Name of Step 3]

Think about what each step means to YOU!

Review the 3-step strategy visually. For example, if the steps are 'Stop, Think, Act,' show a symbol or word for each. Keep it simple and clear.

Your Turn to Create!

Choose one step.

  • What picture reminds you of this step?
  • What word helps you remember?
  • Draw your idea on the poster!

Every idea makes our poster better!

Explain the task: students will draw/write one idea related to one of the steps on the poster. Encourage creativity and collaboration. Remind them all contributions are valued.

Our Amazing Poster!

Look what we made together!

  • A super reminder for our 3-step strategy!
  • Everyone helped!
  • Let's use it to help us every day!

Conclude by celebrating their teamwork and the completed poster. Emphasize that it's a tool for everyone to use.

Project Guide

Our Class Strategy Poster Project Guide

Goal:

To create a giant poster together that helps everyone remember our special 3-step strategy! Every single one of your ideas makes our poster amazing.

What to Do:

  1. Look at the 3-step strategy. (The teacher will show these again on the Slide Deck if you need a reminder!)
  2. Choose ONE step that you want to help illustrate on our class poster.
  3. Think of an idea! What picture, symbol, or one word could you draw to help everyone remember that specific step?
    • Example: If one step is "Stop and Think," you might draw a stop sign, a lightbulb, or the word "PAUSE."
  4. Find a space on the poster and draw or write your idea. Make sure it's big enough to see but also leaves room for your classmates!
  5. Be Creative! Use colors and make your idea stand out.

Remember:

  • This poster is for everyone in our class.
  • We are working together to make it great.
  • Your idea is important and makes our poster complete!
