Story Highlights

We’ll read The Kindness Jar and look for moments when characters:

  • Help a friend in need
  • Share a kind word or smile
  • Do something thoughtful without being asked

Show the cover of The Kindness Jar storybook if you have it. Pause and ask: “What might happen in this story?”

Let’s Discuss Kindness

  1. What kind things did you see in the story?
  2. How did those acts make someone feel?
  3. Can you think of a time you were kind to someone?

Display student answers on chart paper. Use follow-up questions to deepen thinking.

Kindness Cards Activity

  1. Take a Kindness Card sheet.
  2. Draw or write one kind act you can do for a classmate.
  3. Decorate your card with colors or stickers.

Distribute the Kindness Cards Printable. Circulate to offer help drawing or writing.

Create Our Kindness Chain

  1. Write your kind act on a chain strip.
  2. Form a loop and secure with tape or glue.
  3. Link your loop to the chain others have made.

Give each student a chain strip. Demonstrate folding and taping one loop before students begin.

Reflection & Next Steps

  • How did it feel to share or receive kindness?
  • Pick one kindness idea to practice before our next lesson.

Hang the finished kindness chain where everyone can see it. Prompt volunteers to share feelings.
