Slide Deck

Kindness Counts!

What does kindness mean to you?

Welcome students and introduce the topic of kindness. Ask them what comes to mind when they hear the word. Encourage a few shares.

What is Kindness?

Kindness is being friendly, generous, and considerate to others. It's about showing care and making people feel good.

Define kindness for students. Emphasize that it's about being friendly, generous, and considerate. Give simple examples.

Empathy: Understanding Others' Feelings

Empathy is when you understand and share the feelings of another person.

It's like putting yourself in their shoes!

Discuss empathy. Explain that it's understanding how others feel. Ask students for examples of how they might know someone is sad or happy.

The Power of Kindness

When you are kind, you make others feel:

  • Happy
  • Valued
  • Safe
  • Loved

And it makes YOU feel good too!

Talk about how kindness makes everyone feel good – both the giver and the receiver. Ask students how it feels when someone is kind to them.

Your Kindness Challenge!

Today, you will choose ONE kind act to do.

Think about:

  • Who can you be kind to?
  • What kind act will you do?
  • How will it make them feel?

Introduce the Kindness Challenge. Explain that they will choose one kind act to do today. Give examples if needed (e.g., helping a friend, sharing, complimenting someone).

Be a Kindness Champion!

Every act of kindness, no matter how small, makes a big difference.

Let's all be kindness champions!

Conclude by reminding them that kindness is a choice they can make every day. Encourage them to keep an eye out for kindness.
