Discovering Our Learning Paths
Visual • Auditory • Kinesthetic
Welcome everyone! Today we’re going to explore three ways people learn: by seeing, by hearing, and by doing. Explain that there’s no right or wrong way—it’s about discovering what works best for each of us.
Visual Learners
• Learn best with pictures, diagrams, and colors
• Use charts and maps to understand ideas
• Remember what they see
Define visual learning. Show simple icons (books, pictures). Ask: “Who likes to look at pictures or colors when you learn?”
Visual in Action
Look at this picture of a map when learning geography.
• Colors match country names
• Icons show mountains, rivers
Provide an example slide. Encourage students to point out details in the image.
Auditory Learners
• Learn best by listening and speaking
• Remember rhymes, songs, and spoken instructions
• Like discussions and read-alouds
Define auditory learning. Clap or use a bell to gain attention. “This is for our ears!”
Auditory in Action
Use a chant or rhyme to learn spelling:
“B-I-R-D flies in the sky…“
Play a short recorded rhyme. Ask students to repeat.
Kinesthetic Learners
• Learn by moving, touching, and doing
• Use hands-on activities and role play
• Remember through motion
Define kinesthetic learning. Have students tap their desks as you introduce.
Kinesthetic in Action
Shape letters with clay to learn the alphabet
• Feel each curve and line
Invite a volunteer to trace letters in sand or clay. Highlight the sense of touch and movement.
Which One Are You?
• Circle the style you think fits you best
• Visual Auditory Kinesthetic
Prompt students to think quietly or draw a quick icon of their preferred style. Provide drawing supports.
Strengths Sorting Game
• Sort cards into Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic groups
• Share one card and why you placed it there
Introduce the upcoming small-group game. Remind students of group roles: sorter, speaker, encourager.
Your Learning Path
Share one strategy you’ll try this week:
• Draw it
• Say it aloud
• Act it out
Wrap up and encourage students to try one new strategy this week. Display chart paper with their ideas.
