Students will learn to identify, celebrate, and reinforce positive classroom behaviors and commit to personal habits that build a supportive community.

Reinforcing positive habits helps students feel valued, boosts motivation, and fosters a respectful, collaborative learning environment where everyone thrives.

Introduction: Highlighting Positive Habits

10 minutes

  • Present Habit Highlights Presentation
  • Review key classroom habits (e.g., respect, teamwork, responsibility)
  • Record student ideas on chart paper with markers

Step 3

Activity: Classroom Behavior Bingo

20 minutes

  • Explain how to play Classroom Behavior Bingo
  • Distribute Bingo cards and sticky notes to mark behaviors
  • Have students observe and mark behaviors throughout the session
  • Celebrate when students get Bingo and share examples

Step 4

Cool-Down: Habit Reflection Exit Ticket

10 minutes

  • Hand out Habit Reflection Exit Ticket
  • Students write one positive habit they practiced and one goal to continue
  • Collect tickets and briefly share highlights

What Are Positive Habits?

Positive habits are actions we do regularly that help everyone learn and feel good.
Examples:
• Showing respect
• Working as a team
• Being responsible

Define positive habits. Ask students to name other habits they value in class.

Scenario: Respect in Action

Jamie raises her hand before speaking.
Why is this habit important?
Discuss with your partner!

Display scenario. Have students turn to a partner to discuss why hand-raising is respectful.

Scenario: Teamwork Time

Alex and Priya help each other solve a math problem.
How does teamwork help our class?

Invite volunteers to share how teamwork helps. Record ideas on chart paper.

Scenario: Responsibility Matters

Taylor hands in homework on time and helps clean up.
Why do responsible actions matter?

Guide discussion on responsibility. Ask: How does Taylor’s behavior help everyone?

Your Turn: Habit Brainstorm

  1. Think of a positive habit you already do.
  2. Share with the class.
  3. We’ll add them to our Habit Chart!

Explain the brainstorming process. Capture each student’s habit on the Habit Chart.

Warm-Up: Behavior Snapshot

Time: 5 minutes

In this quick exercise, students will view three illustrated classroom scenes. In pairs, they’ll identify the positive behavior shown and discuss why it helps our classroom community. Afterward, we’ll share as a whole group.

Activity

Classroom Behavior Bingo

Time: 20 minutes

How to Play:

  1. Each student receives a Bingo card and a set of sticky notes.
  2. As you observe classmates (or yourself) demonstrating positive behaviors, place a sticky note on the matching square.
  3. When you get five in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—call out “Bingo!”
  4. Share which behaviors you marked and give an example of each.
