How Are You Doing, Really?

A Quick Mood Check

How are you feeling about your school week so far?

(Give a thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumbs sideways)

Welcome students. Ask for a quick, non-verbal mood check (thumbs up/down/sideways) to gauge their current feelings about the school week.

My Habits Report Card

Time to Reflect!

Today, we're going to give ourselves a "report card" on our school habits.

This is for YOU to reflect and grow. Be HONEST with yourself!

Introduce the idea of a 'Habit Report Card.' Explain that today we'll be thinking about how we're doing with some important school habits. Emphasize that honesty is key for personal growth.

Habit 1: Attendance

Am I consistently coming to class and ready to learn?

  • Excellent: I'm always here and ready!
  • Good: I'm mostly here, sometimes a little late or distracted.
  • Needs Improvement: I miss class often or struggle to be ready.

Why did I choose this rating?

Guide students through the Attendance section of the worksheet. Ask them to consider their own attendance and participation in class. Remind them to be honest.

Habit 2: Homework Hero?

Am I completing my homework and turning it in on time?

  • Excellent: My homework is always done and on time!
  • Good: I usually do my homework, but sometimes it's late or incomplete.
  • Needs Improvement: Homework is a challenge for me; I often don't finish or turn it in.

Why did I choose this rating?

Guide students through the Homework section. Encourage them to think about their effort and completion.

Habit 3: Classroom Contributions

Am I participating actively and respectfully in class?

  • Excellent: I share ideas, ask questions, and listen to others.
  • Good: I participate sometimes, but could do more.
  • Needs Improvement: I rarely participate or sometimes distract others.

Why did I choose this rating?

Guide students through the Classroom Participation section. Prompt them to think about their engagement.

Partner Talk: Share One Thing

Time to Share!

  • Turn to a partner.
  • Share one thing you're proud of from your worksheet OR one area you want to improve.
  • Listen respectfully to your partner.

Explain the partner talk. Emphasize respectful listening and sharing one specific thing.

My First Step

What's ONE small step you can take to improve a habit?

  • Think quietly to yourself.
  • This is your personal goal.

Bring the class back together. Ask them to reflect silently on one actionable step they can take. This is their personal commitment.
