Holiday Emotions Bunting

Express holiday emotions through art

In this lesson, students will create individual pennants with symbols representing their feelings about the holiday season. These pennants will be strung together to form a classroom bunting, visually representing the diverse emotional landscape of the students. Step 1

Introduction to Emotions

5 minutes

Begin with a brief discussion about emotions and how they can be expressed through art.
Ask students to share how they feel about the holiday season.
Explain that they will create a pennant to represent their feelings.

Step 2

Creating the Pennants

15 minutes

Distribute colored paper, markers, crayons, and other art supplies.
Instruct students to draw symbols or images on their pennants that represent their holiday emotions.
Assist students as needed, encouraging creativity and self-expression.

Step 3

Assembling the Bunting

5 minutes

Once the pennants are completed, help students punch holes in the top corners.
Thread the string through the holes to create a bunting.
Display the bunting in the classroom as a visual representation of the class's holiday emotions.

Group Discussion and Sharing

5 minutes

Gather students in a circle to share their pennants and explain their symbols.
Encourage students to listen and appreciate the diversity of emotions.
