Activity

Badge Creation Station

Objective: Give K-2 students a hands-on opportunity to design and decorate their own positive behavior badges using simple arts-and-crafts materials.
Time: 10 minutes

Materials:

  • Badge template sheets (circles or fun shapes)
  • Colored markers and crayons
  • Stickers (stars, hearts, smiley faces)
  • Glue sticks and tape
  • Pre-cut yarn or ribbon loops (for hanging)
  • Optional: glitter glue or foam decorations

Teacher Preparation (5 minutes):

  • Place a copy of the badge templates, a set of markers, stickers, and glue sticks at each small table.
  • Pre-cut strings or ribbons for students to attach to finished badges.
  • Lay out an example of a decorated badge as a model on a visual display area.

Activity Steps:

  1. Distribute Badge Templates (1 minute)
  • Give each student one badge template and a ribbon loop.
  • Show the example badge and point out simple design choices (colors, stickers).
  1. Design and Decorate (6 minutes)
  • Encourage students to write or draw one positive behavior word on their badge (e.g., “Kind,” “Helpful,” “Teamwork”).
  • Let them color the border and background with markers or crayons.
  • Invite them to add stickers or foam shapes to make the badge sparkle.
  • Teacher circulates to praise creativity and reinforce the behavior word they chose.
  1. Attach and Display (3 minutes)
  • Help students attach the ribbon loop with tape or glue.
  • Invite each student to share their badge with the class: say the behavior word and hold up the badge.
  • Display completed badges on a classroom “Wall of Vibes” or a badge tree.

Follow-Up:

  • Throughout the week, award these handmade badges when students demonstrate that positive behavior.
  • Rotate new templates or introduce themed badge designs (e.g., friendship, listening) to keep the station fresh.

Game

Joy Jump

Objective: Engage K-2 students in a short, active celebration of positive behaviors through joyful jumps.

Time: 3 minutes

Materials:

  • Open classroom space
  • Optional upbeat music (if available)

Activity Steps:

  1. Spread out so each student has room to jump.
  2. Teacher calls out a positive behavior (e.g., “You helped a friend!”).
  3. Students respond with one big, joyful jump.
  4. After landing, they cheer quietly and listen for the next behavior.

Teacher Tips:

  • Count imaginary badge tokens aloud to build excitement.
  • Encourage claps or cheers after each jump.
  • Model a high-energy jump to get students excited.

Variations:

  • Freeze Jump: Play music, then pause and call a behavior – students freeze mid-jump until the music resumes.
  • Team Jump: Students form pairs or small groups; each group jumps together to build teamwork.

Follow-Up:

  • Track total jumps on a chart and award a class badge when a milestone is reached.
  • Use jumps as a quick transition reward throughout the day.
