Gratitude Mapping

Promote reflection and teamwork

In this lesson, students will work in teams to create a gratitude map, visually connecting various aspects of their lives they are thankful for. This activity encourages students to reflect on positive aspects of their lives and fosters teamwork as they collaborate to create their maps. By focusing on gratitude, students can enhance their emotional well-being and develop a more positive outlook.

Step 1

Introduction to Gratitude

3 mins

  • Briefly explain the concept of gratitude and its importance in our lives.
  • Share a personal example of something you are grateful for.
  • Encourage students to think about things they are thankful for in their own lives.

Step 2

Gratitude Mapping Activity

12 mins

  • Divide students into small groups and provide each group with a large sheet of paper and markers.
  • Instruct each group to draw a central circle and write 'Gratitude' in it.
  • Ask students to think of different aspects of their lives they are grateful for (e.g., family, friends, school, hobbies).
  • Have them write these aspects on sticky notes and place them around the central circle, drawing lines to connect them to the center.
  • Encourage creativity in how they design their maps.

Reflection and Sharing

  • Invite each group to share their gratitude map with the class.
  • Facilitate a discussion using the provided questions to reflect on the activity and the importance of gratitude.
