Enhance positivity through gratitude

In this lesson, students will engage in a brief journaling activity where they note things they are grateful for each day. This practice is designed to enhance positivity and improve overall mental well-being by focusing on appreciating small joys. By regularly reflecting on gratitude, students can develop a more positive outlook and increase their emotional resilience.

Step 1

Introduction to Gratitude

3 minutes

  • Begin by asking students if they know what gratitude means.
  • Explain that gratitude is about being thankful for the good things in our lives, big or small.
  • Share a personal example of something you are grateful for to model the concept.

Step 2

Guided Journaling Activity

8 minutes

  • Distribute the Gratitude Journaling Worksheet to each student.
  • Instruct students to think about their day and write down at least three things they are grateful for.
  • Encourage them to be specific and think about why they are grateful for each item.
  • Walk around the room to offer support and encouragement as needed.

Step 3

Reflection and Sharing

4 minutes

  • Invite students to share one thing they wrote in their journal with the class or a partner.
  • Facilitate a brief discussion on how focusing on gratitude makes them feel.
  • Encourage students to continue this practice daily to cultivate a positive mindset.
