To inspire gratitude

This lesson aims to inspire gratitude among adults through a quick and engaging activity. Participants will reflect on things they are grateful for and share their thoughts with others. This lesson is important as it encourages positive thinking and emotional well-being, fostering a sense of appreciation and connection.

Step 1

Introduction

2 minutes

  • Briefly introduce the concept of gratitude and its benefits.
  • Define 'Complete Gratitude' as a holistic appreciation for both tangible and intangible aspects of life, recognizing the positive contributions of others and the beauty in everyday experiences.
  • Explain that the activity will involve reflecting on and sharing things they are grateful for.

Step 2

Gratitude Reflection Activity

5 minutes

  • Distribute two postcards and pens to each participant.
  • Ask participants to write one postcard to themselves, noting something they are grateful for and why.
  • On the second postcard, have them write a message to someone they are grateful for, explaining their appreciation.

Step 3

Sharing and Discussion

3 minutes

  • Invite participants to share their gratitude notes with the group if they feel comfortable.
  • Facilitate a brief discussion on how expressing gratitude makes them feel and any insights they gained from the activity.

Step 4

Group Discussion

5 minutes

  • Organize participants into small groups.
  • Encourage them to discuss the impact of gratitude on their lives and share any personal stories related to gratitude.
  • Ask each group to share a key takeaway from their discussion with the larger group.

Step 5

Closure

1 minute

  • Thank participants for their participation.
  • Encourage them to send the postcard to the person they wrote to and to keep the one for themselves as a reminder to practice gratitude regularly.
