  2. Enter each assignment’s score and weight
  3. Calculate running class average
  4. Color-code high and low areas for quick reference

Refer to: Grade Monitoring Chart

Introduce the Grade Monitoring Chart. Walk through each step as you project the chart on screen.

Grade Monitoring Chart Walkthrough

Assignment Type | Score | Weight | Running Average
––––––––––––––|–––––––|–––––––|––––––––––––––
Quiz 1 | 85% | 10% | 85%
Homework 1 | 90% | 5% | 87%
Test 1 | 75% | 20% | 83%

Show a sample chart with data from a mock student. Explain how weights affect average and how color-coding highlights trends.

What Are SMART Goals?

S – Specific: Clear and focused
M – Measurable: Quantifiable progress
A – Achievable: Realistic steps
R – Relevant: Aligned to your priorities
T – Time-bound: Set a deadline

Explain each letter in SMART. Encourage students to think of goals that meet each criterion.

SMART Goal Example

“By Week 10, I will increase my English grade from 80% to 90% by completing two weekly writing exercises and asking my teacher for feedback after each assignment.”

Provide a concrete example and explain why it meets all SMART criteria.

Your Turn: Set Your SMART Goal

Use the SMART Goal-Setting Worksheet to draft one goal:
• What specific grade are you aiming for?
• How will you measure progress?
• What steps will you take?
• When will you achieve it?

Distribute the SMART Goal-Setting Worksheet. Circulate to support students as they draft their own goals.
