Goal Planning

In this lesson, students will learn about goal planning through a combination of video content and interactive activities. The lesson will help students understand the importance of setting goals and provide them with practical strategies to achieve them. This is crucial for developing their organizational and time-management skills.

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

Greet the students and briefly introduce the topic of goal planning.
Explain that setting goals helps us achieve what we want in life, whether it's learning a new skill, doing well in school, or making new friends.
Tell the students that they will watch a short video about motivation, which is an important part of goal planning.

Step 2

Video Viewing

6 mins

Play the video Wellbeing For Children: Motivation.
After the video, ask the students to share one thing they learned about motivation.

Step 3

Discussion

5 mins

Lead a discussion on the importance of setting goals.
Ask questions like: "Why do you think it's important to set goals?" and "Can you think of a time when you set a goal and achieved it?"
Write down key points on the whiteboard.

Step 4

Goal Planning Activity

10 mins

Hand out post-it notes and markers to each student.
Ask the students to think of one goal they want to achieve in the next month. It could be related to school, a hobby, or something at home.
Have them write their goal on the post-it note and stick it on the whiteboard.
Once all goals are posted, discuss how they can achieve these goals. Break down the steps needed to reach each goal and write them next to the corresponding post-it note.

Closure

Summarize the key points of the lesson.
Encourage students to keep their goals in mind and work towards them every day.
Remind them that it's okay to ask for help and to adjust their goals if needed.
End with a positive note, encouraging students to believe in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals.
