Slide Deck

Garden of Goals

Welcome to our Garden of Goals! Today, we begin our journey towards dreaming big and growing our personal goals.

Introduce the activity by welcoming the students to the Garden of Goals. Explain that they will be participating in a fun, hands-on activity where they plant seeds and create a paper craft that represents their personal goals.

Introduction & Discussion

What is a goal?

  • Just like a plant, a goal needs care and attention to grow.
  • Share one simple goal you have in mind.

Discuss the importance of goals and how taking care of plants is like taking care of our dreams. Prompt students with simple questions about what goals mean to them.

Planting Seeds

Let's Get Planting!

  • Plant your seed in the pot or garden bed.
  • Water it gently and care for it just like you care for your goals.

Give clear step-by-step instructions on how to plant the seeds. Emphasize the analogy between nurturing plants and nurturing personal growth.

Creating Paper Goal Plants

Make Your Goal Plant!

  • Decorate your paper plant using markers, glue, and scissors.
  • Write or dictate one goal on your paper craft.

Guide students through the creative process of making their paper goal plants. Encourage them to be creative and think about what goal they want to write on their craft.

Reflection & Wrap-Up

Let's Reflect:

  • How did it feel to plant and nurture your goal?
  • What did you learn about caring for your personal growth?

Conclude the activity by inviting students to share their experience. Summarize what they learned about goal setting and the importance of nurturing their aspirations.

Activity

Garden of Goals Activity

This activity invites you to create your very own "Garden of Goals." You will plant a real seed and craft your own paper goal plant. Just like a garden needs care to thrive, your personal goals need attention and nurturing to grow. Follow the steps below and share your reflections with your classmates.

Materials

  • Real seeds
  • Small pots or a garden bed area
  • Soil
  • Watering can
  • Paper, markers, scissors, and glue

Steps

1. Planting Your Seed

  • Pick a small pot or a spot in the garden bed.
  • Fill it with soil and carefully plant your seed according to the instructions the teacher provided.
  • Use the watering can to give your seed a gentle drink of water—just like caring for your dreams!

2. Creating Your Paper Goal Plant

  • Gather your crafting supplies: paper, markers, scissors, and glue.
  • Draw and cut out a simple plant shape (stem and leaves). Decorate your plant with colors and designs that you love!
  • Write or dictate one personal goal on your paper plant. It could be something simple you hope to achieve, like learning to tie your shoes or being a kind friend.

3. Reflection

  • Once you've finished, take a moment to reflect on your activity. Think about why you chose your goal and what steps you can take to make it grow strong.
  • Share your thoughts with the class during our wrap-up discussion.

Reflection Questions

  • How did it feel to plant your seed and create your paper goal plant?

  • What similarities do you see between taking care of a plant and working on your goal?

  • What will you do each week to help your goal grow, just like your seed will grow into a beautiful plant?

Remember, each week in our classroom garden, we'll check on our progress and share our experiences. Just like plants need care to flourish, your goals need effort and patience.

Happy planting and goal-setting!
