Activity
Friendship Trait Game (Activity)
Objective: Children will practice identifying and sharing examples of friendship traits in a fun, interactive setting.
Materials:
- Soft Ball
- Friendship Trait Cards
Time: 5 minutes
Instructions
- Form a Circle (1 minute)
- Invite children to stand or sit in a circle.
- Explain they will pass the ball around and learn about friendship traits.
- Pass and Play (2 minutes)
- Play a short piece of music.
- Children gently pass the soft ball to their neighbor as the music plays.
- Stop and Draw (1 minute)
- When the music stops, the child holding the ball picks a card from the Friendship Trait Cards.
- The child names the trait (e.g., “sharing,” “kindness”).
- Share and Celebrate (1 minute)
- The child shares one way they show that trait with a friend.
- The teacher and classmates applaud and give positive feedback.
- Repeat until time is up or most children have had a turn.
Adaptations & Supports:
- For children needing extra processing time, the teacher can pause for a moment before asking for sharing.
- Non-verbal students may point to a picture on the card or show the trait through an action (e.g., pretend to share).
Game
Friendship Bingo (Game)
Objective: Reinforce recognition of key friendship traits in a fun, interactive bingo format.
Materials:
- Friendship Bingo Cards (each card has a 3×3 grid of friendship trait images)

- Colored Stickers or Crayons
Time: 5 minutes
Instructions
- Distribute Cards (1 minute)
- Give each child a Friendship Bingo Card and a handful of colored stickers or a crayon.
- Show the Bingo Calling Cards so they know what’s coming.
- Play the Game (3 minutes)

- Continue until a child covers three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).
- Celebrate & Share (1 minute)
- The first child to get “Bingo!” raises their hand and shows their card.
- Ask them to name one trait they covered and give an example of how they can use it with friends.
- Applaud and shuffle cards to play again if time allows.
Adaptations & Supports
- Non-readers can match images only; adults or caring peers can name the trait aloud.
- Students with fine-motor challenges can place larger stickers or use a finger to touch images.
- To extend, encourage children to share a personal friendship story related to a trait when they bingo.
