Step 1

Introduction and Warm-Up

5 minutes

  • Gather the children in a circle.

  • Start with a warm-up activity: Ask each child to say their name and share one nice thing they can do for their friend.

Step 2

Story and Discussion

10 minutes

  • Read a storybook about friendship (select one that is age-appropriate and focuses on the qualities of a good friend).
  • After reading, engage the children in a discussion using pre-prepared questions.
  • Ask questions like: "What did you like about the story?", "What makes a good friend?", "How can we be good friends to each other?"

Step 3

Craft Activity

10 minutes

  • Provide each child with paper, crayons, markers, and other craft supplies.
  • Ask the children to draw a picture of themselves with their friends.
  • Encourage them to include some of the qualities they discussed in their drawing (e.g., sharing, helping, playing together).
  • Walk around to provide support and praise their efforts.

  • Gather the children back in a circle.
  • Ask a few children to share their drawings and explain how they depicted friendship qualities.
  • Summarize the lesson by reinforcing the key qualities of a good friend.
  • End with a friendship cheer or a group hug if appropriate.
