Fitness Circuit Challenge

Improve physical fitness and teamwork

Students will participate in a fitness circuit with various stations focusing on different exercises. This lesson is designed to improve overall physical fitness and foster teamwork among students, encouraging them to support each other through physical challenges.

Warm-Up

10 mins

  • Lead students in a dynamic warm-up:
    • 2 minutes of jogging in place
    • 2 minutes of high knees
    • 2 minutes of jumping jacks
    • 2 minutes of arm circles
    • 2 minutes of lunges

Step 3

Fitness Circuit

35 mins

  • Set up 5 stations. Spend 5 minutes at each station with 1 minute to transition in between.
  • Station 1: Jump Rope
    • Students will jump rope continuously for 1 minute.
  • Station 2: Push-Ups
    • Students will perform as many push-ups as they can in 1 minute.
  • Station 3: Plank Hold
    • Students will hold a plank position for 1 minute.
  • Station 4: Squats
    • Students will perform as many squats as they can in 1 minute.
  • Station 5: Burpees
    • Students will perform as many burpees as they can in 1 minute.

Step 4

Cool-Down

5 mins

  • Lead students in a cool-down session with static stretches:
    • 1 minute of hamstring stretches
    • 1 minute of quadriceps stretches
    • 1 minute of calf stretches
    • 1 minute of tricep stretches
    • 1 minute of shoulder stretches

Reflection

  • Hand out the Fitness Tracking Worksheet.
  • Have students fill out their exercise counts and reflect on their performance.
  • Watch the video on Exercise and the Brain
  • Encourage a short discussion on what they found challenging and how they supported each other.

Fitness Tracking Worksheet

Students will track the number of repetitions or duration of exercises they complete at each station, then reflect on their performance.

Station 1 - Jump Rope: Number of jumps completed

Count each jump.







Station 2 - Push-Ups: Number of push-ups completed

Ensure proper form.







Station 3 - Plank Hold: Duration held (seconds)

Maintain a straight line with your body.







Station 4 - Squats: Number of squats completed

Count each full squat.







Station 5 - Burpees: Number of burpees completed

Perform a full burpee each time.
