Feelings & Leaves: Letting Go

Practice emotional release

In this engaging autumn-themed activity, students reflect on emotions or worries they would like to let go of, visualizing them as leaves falling from a tree. By writing down and discussing these feelings, students practice emotional release and learn to embrace change. Step 1

Introduction

3 minutes

  • Welcome students and introduce the theme of autumn and falling leaves.
  • Explain that today they will be thinking about feelings or worries they want to let go of, just like leaves falling from a tree.

Step 2

Activity: Writing Feelings

10 minutes

  • Distribute paper leaves and pens/pencils to each student.
  • Instruct students to write down a feeling or worry they would like to let go of on their paper leaf.
  • Encourage them to think about why they want to let go of this feeling and how it might feel to release it.

Step 3

Discussion

5 minutes

  • Gather students in a circle and invite them to share their thoughts if they feel comfortable.
  • Use the discussion questions to guide the conversation and help students reflect on the process of letting go.

Step 4

Closure

2 minutes

  • Thank students for participating and remind them that it's okay to let go of feelings that don't serve them.
  • Encourage them to practice this exercise whenever they feel overwhelmed.
