How Do You Feel Today?

Let's share one feeling you have right now!

Welcome students and ask them to share one feeling they are having today. Model sharing your own feeling first.

Happy!

Smiling eyes, big grin, feeling joyful inside!

Show the first emotion face. Ask students: "What emotion do you see? How do you know? What does it feel like when you are [emotion]?" Encourage full-body expressions or descriptions.

Sad...

Droopy mouth, tears, a heavy feeling.

Show the next emotion face. Ask students to describe sadness. "What makes us feel sad sometimes? What can we do when we or a friend feels sad?"

Angry! Grrr!

Frowny face, tight muscles, a hot feeling.

Show the next emotion face. Ask students to identify anger. "What does angry look like? What does it feel like? What can we do when we or a friend feels angry in a safe way?"

Surprised!

Wide eyes, open mouth, unexpected!

Show the next emotion face. Ask students: "What emotion is this? What makes us feel surprised?"

What Does a Good Friend Do?

Sharing toys? Helping hands? Kind words?

Introduce the topic of friendship. Ask students to think about what a good friend does. Write down their ideas on the board or chart paper.

Friendship Choices!

Share and take turns!
Help each other!
Use kind words!
Listen to friends!

Emphasize key friendship behaviors. "Why are these things important? How do they make others feel?"
