Identify and express emotions

In this lesson, students will learn to identify and express their emotions through drawing and storytelling. They will also practice recognizing emotions in others through interactive activities. Step 1

Introduction

  • Welcome the students and explain that today’s lesson is about feelings and emotions.
  • Discuss the importance of recognizing and expressing emotions.

Step 2

Drawing Activity

10 mins

  • Hand out the 'Draw Your Feelings' worksheet.
  • Ask students to think about how they feel today and draw a picture of that emotion.
  • Encourage them to use colors and expressions to depict their feelings.

Storytelling Activity

  • Gather the students in a circle.
  • First, demonstrate by telling a short story about a time when you felt happy, sad, or another emotion.
  • Invite a few students to share their own stories about a time they felt a certain way.
  • Use the Printable Emotion Cards to help them choose and describe their emotions.
