Step 1

Feeling Faces Activity

Display printed Feeling Faces Cards that show different emotions (happy, sad, angry, surprised, etc.). Go through each card one by one and ask students to identify the emotion shown. Encourage students to mimic the facial expression of each card. Ask them how they might feel in situations where they would have that expression.

Discussion

10 mins

Engage the students in a discussion using the provided questions to delve deeper into their understanding of emotions. Ask questions like: 'How can you tell if someone is feeling happy?' and 'What can you do if you are feeling sad?' Use their responses to facilitate a conversation about empathy and proper emotional expression.

Step 4

Closure

5 mins

Summarize what the students have learned about emotions and facial expressions. Encourage students to practice recognizing and expressing their own emotions at home. End with a quick round where each student shares a feeling they experienced today and how they showed it.
