Boost creativity through storytelling and art
Short fairy tale book or printout, Art supplies (crayons, markers, paper, etc.), and Discussion questions
- Welcome the children and explain that today they will listen to a fairy tale and then create their own artwork inspired by the story.
- Briefly discuss what a fairy tale is and ask if they have any favorite fairy tales.
- Read a short fairy tale to the children. Ensure the story is engaging and age-appropriate.
- Encourage the children to listen carefully and think about what they might want to draw.
- Ask the children questions about the story to ensure comprehension and to spark their imagination.
- Example questions: What was your favorite part of the story? Who was your favorite character? What would you change about the story?

Art Creation

- Provide the children with art supplies and ask them to create a drawing or painting inspired by the fairy tale.
- Encourage them to be creative and to think about the characters, setting, and events from the story.
Step 5
Show and Tell

- Allow the children to share their artwork with the group.
- Ask them to explain what part of the story inspired their artwork and why.
- Praise the children for their creativity and participation.
- Recap the lesson and ask if they enjoyed combining storytelling with art.
- Collect the artwork to display in the classroom or send home with the children.
