Expressing Emotions Through Role-Play

This lesson helps 1st-grade students identify and express their emotions constructively through role-playing activities and discussions. Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Begin with a brief discussion about emotions. Ask students what emotions they know and how they feel when they experience them.
  • Explain that today they will learn how to express these emotions in a healthy way.

Step 2

Role-Playing Activity

15 mins

  • Divide students into small groups and give each group a set of Emotion Role-Play Cards.
  • Instruct each group to pick a card and act out the emotion on the card without using words.
  • Encourage the rest of the class to guess the emotion being portrayed.
  • Rotate the cards among groups to ensure each group gets a chance to act out different emotions.

  • Use the Discussion Questions to guide a conversation about the role-playing activity.
