- Begin with a brief discussion on the importance of communication.
- Ask students to share examples of when they needed to communicate clearly.
Step 2
Activity 1: Verbal Communication

- Distribute post-it notes and markers to each student.
- Ask students to write a short message they want to communicate to a friend.
- Pair students and have them exchange messages, discussing how they felt receiving and sending the message.
Step 3
Activity 2: Non-Verbal Communication
15 mins
- Use the Printable Communication Cards.
- Each card has an emotion or message that students must convey without words.
- Students take turns acting out the card while others guess the message.
- Use the Discussion Questions attachment to guide a conversation about what students learned.
- Encourage students to reflect on the challenges and successes of communicating without words.
- Summarize key points from the lesson.
- Ask students to share one new thing they learned about communication.
