Explore career paths and set personal career goals

This lesson helps 10th-grade students explore various career paths, understand the skills required for different jobs, and set personal career goals. It involves group activities, discussions, and individual reflection.

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Greet the students and introduce the topic of career exploration.
  • Explain the importance of exploring different career paths and understanding the skills required for each.

Step 2

Group Activity: Career Brainstorm

10 mins

  • Divide the class into small groups.
  • Provide each group with post-it notes and markers.
  • Ask each group to brainstorm different career paths and write each idea on a separate post-it note.
  • Have each group stick their notes on a designated area of the board.

Step 3

Discussion: Skills and Careers

10 mins

  • Review the career paths posted on the board.
  • Discuss the skills required for each career, comparing and contrasting different paths.
  • Take notes on the board to highlight important points.

Step 4

Individual Activity: Career Path Worksheet

15 mins

  • Distribute the Career Path Worksheets to each student.
  • Ask students to choose one or two career paths they are interested in and fill out the worksheet with the required skills and personal reflections.
  • Encourage students to think about their own strengths and how they align with the skills needed for their chosen careers.
