Exploring Cultures Through Stories

Develop cultural awareness and empathy

In this lesson, students will explore a folklore story from a different culture to understand its values and traditions. Through a brief reading and discussion, students will compare the story with their own cultural experiences, fostering cultural awareness and empathy. This lesson is important as it helps students appreciate diversity and develop a deeper understanding of global cultures.

Introduction

Begin with a quick discussion on what folklore is.

Distribute the reading handout with a selected folklore story.
Have students read the story individually or in pairs.
Encourage them to note down any interesting cultural values or traditions they observe.
