Positive Body Image & Boundaries

This 10-week program is designed to support 9th-grade girls who have experienced bullying and trauma, focusing on developing a positive body image and healthy boundary setting. Through trauma-informed teaching, collaborative learning, and restorative practices, students will engage in activities that promote self-esteem and resilience. Art and crafts will be used as a medium for expression and healing, making the sessions both therapeutic and engaging.

Step 1

Introduction

  • Briefly explain the importance of positive body image and setting healthy boundaries.

Step 2

Art Activity

20 mins

  • Provide art supplies and guide students to create a piece that represents their self-image.
  • Encourage expression through colors and shapes.
  • Offer support and guidance as needed.
  • Suggest themes such as 'My Strengths,' 'What Makes Me Unique,' or 'My Safe Space.'
  • Introduce techniques like collage, abstract painting, or mixed media to help students express complex emotions.
  • Encourage students to incorporate words or symbols that represent their personal boundaries or positive affirmations.
