Step 1

Introduction

  • Begin by asking students if they know what empathy means and discuss their ideas.
  • Explain that empathy is understanding how someone else feels and wanting to help them.

Step 2

Video Viewing

  • Show the video A Good Deed Can Grow.
  • Ask students to pay attention to how the characters show kindness and empathy.

Step 3

Discussion

10 mins

  • Discuss the video with the class.
  • Ask questions like: What good deeds did you see? How did they make others feel?
  • Encourage students to share their thoughts on how they can show empathy in their own lives.

Step 4

Activity: Kindness Tree

20 mins

  • Provide each student with a printable card from the 'Acts of Kindness' set.
  • Ask students to think of a kind act they can do for someone else and draw it on their card.
  • Once completed, have students cut out their cards and glue them onto a large poster board to create a 'Kindness Tree.'
  • Discuss how each act of kindness can grow and spread positivity, just like the tree.
