Understand how to communicate and collaborate

Students will learn the basics of emotional intelligence (EI) and its impact on communication and collaboration. By understanding and managing their own emotions and recognizing those of others, students can enhance teamwork and empathy in group settings. This lesson includes an introductory video, discussion, and group activities to practice EI skills.

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Greet the students and briefly introduce the topic of emotional intelligence (EI).
  • Explain that EI involves recognizing and managing our own emotions and those of others, which is important for effective communication and collaboration.

  • Discuss the four key skills of EI: perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions.

  • Each group will work through a scenario, identifying the emotions involved and discussing how to manage and use these emotions effectively.
