Emotion Matching Game

Understand and express emotions

In this lesson, students will engage in an interactive game where they match emotions to various friendship scenarios. This activity is designed to help young learners recognize and articulate their feelings, such as having a crush, in a safe and supportive environment. Step 1

Introduction to Emotions

5 mins

  • Begin by asking students if they know what emotions are.
  • Show pictures of different facial expressions and ask students to guess the emotion.
  • Explain that emotions are feelings we have inside, like happiness, sadness, or excitement.

Step 2

Emotion Matching Game

20 mins

  • Divide students into small groups.
  • Provide each group with a set of Emotion Scenario Cards and Emotion Face Cards.
  • Instruct students to read a scenario card and discuss which emotion face card matches the scenario.
  • Encourage students to explain why they chose that emotion.

Step 3

Reflection and Discussion

5 mins

  • Gather students back together and ask them to share one scenario and the emotion they matched.
  • Discuss why it's important to understand our emotions and how it helps us in friendships.
  • Ask students how they feel after playing the game and if they learned something new about emotions.
