Activity

Digital Citizenship Activity

This activity is designed to give you a hands-on experience identifying safe and unsafe online behaviors. You will work through different scenarios and engage in role-playing to practice making decisions that promote digital safety and respectful communication.

Activity Instructions

  1. Scenario Exploration:

    • You will be presented with a series of digital scenarios. Each scenario describes a situation that could occur online (e.g., sharing personal information, encountering disrespectful comments, or witnessing cyberbullying).
    • For each scenario, decide if the behavior is safe or unsafe. Write a short explanation of why you made that choice.

  2. Role-Playing Session:

    • In small groups, choose one of the scenarios and create a short role-playing skit. Use the skit to demonstrate how to respond in a safe and respectful way in that situation.
    • After each skit, discuss as a class what went well and what could be improved.
  3. Group Reflection:

    • Write down one new idea or tip you learned today about safe digital behavior. Share it with the class during a brief wrap-up discussion.

Materials Needed

  • Printed scenarios (provided by your teacher or available on a shared screen).
  • Paper and pens for writing your thoughts and responses.

Follow-Up Questions

  • What signs indicate an online behavior might be unsafe?
  • How can you help a friend who is unsure about what information is safe to share online?
  • Can you think of additional strategies for promoting respectful communication online?

Enjoy the activity and remember: your digital actions matter. Let’s work together to create a safe and respectful online world!
