Creative Construction Challenge

Foster teamwork and creativity

In this lesson, students will work in teams to build a structure using everyday materials. This activity encourages creativity, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving. It is important as it helps students develop practical thinking skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers.

Step 1

Introduction

10 mins

Welcome students and explain the objective of the lesson: to build a structure using everyday materials.
Discuss the importance of teamwork and creativity in problem-solving.
Introduce the materials available for the challenge.

Step 2

Team Formation

5 mins

Divide students into small teams of 4-5 members.
Encourage students to discuss and assign roles within their teams (e.g., planner, builder, tester).

Step 3

Construction Challenge

30 mins

Provide each team with a set of materials.
Set a timer for 30 minutes.
Instruct teams to work together to design and build a structure.
Encourage creativity and remind students to communicate and collaborate effectively.

Presentation and Testing

10 mins

Have each team present their structure to the class.
Test the stability and functionality of each structure.
Encourage positive feedback and constructive criticism from peers.
