Step 1

Introduction and Warm-Up

5 minutes

  • Welcome the student and explain that you’ll create a confidence-building collage together.
  • Ask the student to share one thing they feel proud of.
  • Briefly introduce the concept of affirmations and how they support positive thinking.

Step 2

Strengths Brainstorm

5 minutes

  • Give the student the Affirmation Prompts Handout.
  • Read prompts aloud and allow the student to jot down 3–5 personal strengths or positive traits.
  • Provide supportive feedback, asking follow-up questions to deepen reflection.

Step 3

Collage Creation

15 minutes

  • Lay out construction paper, magazines, scissors, glue, and markers.
  • Guide the student to select images, words, or colors that represent their listed strengths.
  • Encourage creative placement and layering on the paper.
  • Invite the student to write short affirmations next to each image or cut-out.

Step 4

Sharing and Reflection

5 minutes

  • Ask the student to present their collage and explain why they chose each element.
  • Discuss how seeing these affirmations can boost their confidence in challenging moments.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and suggest the student keep the collage in their binder or locker.
