Goal Setting GPS Lesson Plan

Students will learn the SMART goal framework and practice crafting personal academic or personal goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

  • Define each SMART component using Slides 2–6:
    • Specific: clear, detailed target
    • Measurable: criteria for tracking progress
    • Achievable: realistic given resources
    • Relevant: aligned with broader objectives
    • Time-bound: set a deadline
  • After each letter, prompt students for an example

Group Activity: Crafting SMART Goals
