Step 1

Introduction

  • Gather the children in a circle.
  • Show them a sample storybook and explain that they will create their own storybooks today.
  • Discuss the importance of colors and how they can tell a story.

Step 2

Storytelling Activity

10 mins

  • Distribute the Printable Storybook Template to each child.
  • Encourage them to think of a simple story they want to tell.
  • Guide them to use different colors for different parts of their story (e.g., red for excitement, blue for calmness).

Step 3

Drawing Activity

  • Provide children with colored paper, crayons, and markers.
  • Encourage them to draw illustrations for their story, focusing on key scenes or characters.
  • Walk around to assist and inspire them with ideas.

Book Assembly

  • Show children how to use yarn to bind their storybook pages together.
  • Assist them in threading the yarn through pre-punched holes in the pages.
  • Demonstrate how to tie a knot to secure the pages.
  • Encourage them to decorate the yarn binding with beads or stickers if time allows.
