Step 1

Discussion

5 mins

  • Use the Discussion Guide to ask students about their favorite topics to talk about.
  • Encourage students to share why they enjoy these topics.
  • Highlight the importance of asking questions and showing interest in others' stories.

Step 3

Activity: Conversation Starter Game

8 mins

  • Distribute the Printable Conversation Starter Cards to each student.
  • Explain the rules: Each student picks a card and starts a conversation with a partner using the prompt on the card.
  • Encourage students to listen actively and ask follow-up questions.
  • Rotate partners every 2 minutes to ensure everyone talks to different classmates.

  • Gather students back in a circle.
  • Ask a few students to share something interesting they learned about a classmate.
