Story: Raccoon and Wolf

This handout provides the full text of the story 'Raccoon and Wolf' for students to read and reference during the lesson.

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a clever Raccoon and a wise Wolf. They were the best of friends and spent their days exploring the woods and sharing stories. One day, Raccoon noticed that his fur was dull and gray, while the birds around him had vibrant colors. Feeling envious, he asked Wolf, "Why do I not have beautiful colors like the birds?"

Wolf, with a knowing smile, replied, "Colors are not what make you special, Raccoon. Your cleverness and kindness are your true colors." But Raccoon was not satisfied and decided to find a way to change his appearance.

He approached a wise old Owl, who was known for her knowledge of the forest's secrets. "Owl," Raccoon pleaded, "please tell me how I can become as colorful as the birds."

Owl thought for a moment and said, "To gain colors, you must first understand the beauty within you. Help others, and your true colors will shine."

Determined, Raccoon began to help his fellow forest creatures. He guided lost animals, shared his food, and even helped Wolf when he was in trouble. As Raccoon continued his good deeds, he noticed something magical happening. His fur began to shimmer with a soft, golden hue.

One day, as Raccoon was helping a young bird find its way back to its nest, the bird chirped, "Thank you, Raccoon! Your kindness is as bright as the sun!"

Raccoon looked at his reflection in a nearby pond and saw that his fur was now glowing with beautiful colors. He realized that his true colors had always been there, waiting to be revealed through his actions.

From that day on, Raccoon was known not just for his cleverness, but for his radiant colors that reflected his kind heart. And he never envied the birds again, for he had found his own unique beauty.
