Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

Welcome students and explain the importance of problem-solving skills. Introduce the day's activities and set the expectations. Explain that they will be working in groups to solve challenging puzzles.

Step 2

Group Assignment

5 mins

Divide the students into groups of 4-5. Ensure that each group has a mix of abilities to promote teamwork. Assign roles such as scribe, timekeeper, and presenter within each group.

Step 3

Teamwork Challenge Activity

25 mins

  • Activity 1: The Paper Tower: Provide each group with a stack of newspaper and a roll of tape. The challenge is to build the tallest free-standing tower possible within a set time limit. Encourage creativity and stability in their designs.
  • Activity 2: The Puzzle Pieces: Give each group a simple jigsaw puzzle, but mix up pieces from different puzzles. The challenge is to communicate and collaborate with other groups to find and exchange the correct pieces. Emphasize the importance of negotiation and cooperation.
  • Activity 3: The Blindfolded Obstacle Course: Set up a simple obstacle course in the classroom or outside. One student in each group is blindfolded, and the rest of the group must guide them through the course using only verbal instructions. Focus on clear communication and trust.
