Caring Through Crafts

Integrate creativity with community care

In this lesson, students will create thoughtful crafts to be donated to local shelters or hospitals. This activity encourages creativity while fostering a sense of community care and empathy. By engaging in this project, students will learn the importance of giving back and how their creative skills can make a positive impact on others.

Construction paper, Markers, Glue, Scissors, Stickers, Printable Cards: Craft Ideas, and Discussion: Community Care

Step 1

Introduction

10 mins

  • Begin with a brief discussion about community care and why it's important to help others.
  • Introduce the concept of creating crafts to donate to local shelters or hospitals.
  • Explain the activity and what materials will be used.

Step 2

Craft Activity

40 mins

  • Distribute materials to each student.
  • Encourage students to think about what kind of craft they would like to make (e.g., cards, bookmarks, small decorations).
  • Provide guidance and support as needed while students work on their crafts.
  • Remind students to be creative and thoughtful about the recipients of their crafts.

Step 3

Reflection and Sharing

  • Gather students in a circle to share their crafts with the group.
  • Discuss how it felt to create something for someone else and what they learned about community care.
  • Collect the crafts to be prepared for donation.
