Career Quest

Career Exploration

In this lesson, students will explore different careers and consider what they might like to do when they grow up. The lesson includes a discussion about various job roles and an interactive game/activity where students match job descriptions to careers. This lesson helps students begin to think about their interests and how they relate to different professions.

Step 1

Introduction

Welcome the students and explain the objective of the lesson. Ask them if they have ever thought about what they want to be when they grow up. Share some examples of different careers and the roles associated with them.

Step 2

Discussion

10 mins

Facilitate a discussion using the provided questions to help students think about different careers. Make sure to engage ESL students by using simple language and visuals.

Step 3

Career Matching Activity

10 mins

Distribute the career matching cards to students. Explain the rules of the game: Students will work in pairs or small groups to match job descriptions to the correct career. Once they finish, they'll share their matches with the class.

Step 4

Drawing Activity

10 mins

Provide students with drawing paper and crayons or colored pencils. Have each student draw themselves in the career they are interested in. After they finish, ask them to share their drawings with the class and explain why they chose that career.

Step 5

Closure

5 mins

Wrap up the lesson by asking students to share one new career they learned about. Encourage them to think about what they enjoy doing and how it might align with different careers.
