Career Fair Quest Script

Introduction & MI Self-Assessment (15 minutes)

“Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our Career Fair Quest. Today, you are career explorers. Over the next two hours, you’ll visit different booths, discover what jobs are out there, and connect those careers to your personal strengths—what Howard Gardner calls Multiple Intelligences.

By the end of today, you will be able to:

  • Name Gardner’s eight intelligences
  • Match careers to the intelligences they use most
  • Weigh the pros and cons of each career
  • Create a simple action plan for your top career picks

First, let’s review the eight intelligences. I’ll say each one, and I want you to give me a quick example of someone who uses that intelligence in their job. Ready?

  1. Visual-Spatial?
  2. Linguistic?
  3. Logical-Mathematical?
  4. Musical?
  5. Bodily-Kinesthetic?
  6. Interpersonal?
  7. Intrapersonal?
  8. Naturalistic?

Great ideas!

Now, please take one copy of the Multiple Intelligences Profile Handout in front of you. Over the next 10 minutes, complete the self-assessment honestly. This will help you see which intelligences are strongest for you. If you finish early, write down any questions you have or note a classmate’s name to discuss.

(After 10 minutes)
“Time’s up! Please wrap up your last question.”

Career Booth Simulation (50 minutes)

“Okay, career explorers—let’s move to our booths!

  1. I will divide you into groups of 3–4.
  2. Each group starts at a different station around the room.
  3. You will spend 10 minutes at each booth.
  4. When you arrive, find the career description card in our Career Booth Cards Deck.
  5. Use your Pros and Cons Worksheet to:
    • Identify which intelligences this career needs and explain how they apply.
    • List three pros—the positive aspects of this job.
    • List three cons—challenges you might face.
    • Rate your interest from 1 (Low) to 5 (High) and explain why.

I will ring a bell at 2-minute, 1-minute, and final warnings. At the final bell, rotate clockwise to your next booth and begin.

Let’s get started!”

(After each rotation: “Rotate now—good luck at your next booth!”)

Pair Debrief (10 minutes)

“Fantastic work at those booths! Now, find another pair of explorers—so you’ll be in a group of four.

In your new pairs, share insights from two of the careers you visited. Discuss:

  • What surprised you about the intelligence matches?
  • Which pros or cons stood out most?

You have 10 minutes. Ready? Go!”

(After 10 minutes) “Wrap up your conversation and get ready for our whole-class discussion.”

Whole-Class Discussion (15 minutes)

“Let’s bring it back together. I’d love to hear from you:

  1. Who wants to share a career that matched one of your top intelligences?
    • Follow-Up: Why did that match make sense?
  2. What common pros or cons did you notice across careers?
    • Follow-Up: Did any surprise you?
  3. How has visiting these booths changed how you think about your future job?

Thank you for those great insights!”

Individual Reflection & Action Plan (20 minutes)

“Please take out your Reflection Journal Worksheet.

  1. Write down your top one or two favorite careers from today.
  2. Note which intelligences support those choices.
  3. Brainstorm at least two steps you can take next—like researching online, interviewing someone in that field, or trying a related club.
  4. Turn one step into a SMART goal:
    • Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound.

You have 20 minutes. I’ll walk around to answer questions.”

(After 20 minutes) “Time’s up! Finish your last thought.”

Closing & Next Steps (10 minutes)

“Wonderful reflections, everyone. Today you connected your personal strengths to real-world careers and practiced evaluating pros and cons.

Remember:

  • You can revisit your profile and booth notes anytime.
  • Check out our career resources on the class website.
  • Optional homework: Choose one career you’d like to know more about. Research it in depth and be ready to share one new fact at our next session.

Thank you for your energy and curiosity today—great job, career explorers! See you next time.”
