Career Exploration Adventure

Teach students about different careers

In this lesson, kindergarten students will explore various careers through a combination of video, reading, and interactive activities. This lesson is designed to spark curiosity and help students understand the diversity of jobs people do. Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Greet the students and introduce the topic of careers.
  • Ask students what they think a career is and share a few examples.
  • Explain that today they will learn about different jobs people do.

Step 2

Video Viewing

5 mins

  • Show the video The Good Learner Song.
  • Discuss the qualities of a good learner and how they relate to different careers.

Step 3

Reading Activity

10 mins

  • Read aloud from the book "Clothesline Clues to Jobs People Do."
  • Pause to ask questions about each job and what tools or clothes are associated with it.

Step 4

Collaborative Activity

15 mins

  • Divide students into small groups and give each group a set of printable career cards.
  • Ask each group to match the career cards with the correct tools or clothes.
  • Encourage students to discuss and help each other.

Step 5

Closure

5 mins

  • Gather students back together and ask each group to share one career they learned about.
  • Play the song from the provided YouTube link to wrap up the lesson.
  • Thank students for their participation and remind them of the importance of all jobs.
