Lesson Plan

Calm Words Toolbox Lesson Plan

Students will identify their personal signs of sensory overwhelm and practice using calm words and breathing strategies to respond respectfully to peers and adults in overstimulating moments.

Highly sensitive students often feel overwhelmed by sensory input and may react impulsively. Teaching them to recognize their signals and use calm communication builds self-regulation, reduces conflict, and fosters positive relationships.
