Lesson Plan

Calm Down Toolbox Lesson Plan

Students will learn and practice four self-regulation strategies—deep breathing, counting backwards, using a calm-down corner, and movement breaks—to manage strong emotions, excess energy, and build focus.

Teaching self-regulation empowers 1st graders to manage big emotions, excess energy, and loudness, enabling better focus, independence, and emotional wellness.
