Activity
Role Play Activity Cards
These Role Play Activity Cards are designed to help you practice setting and respecting healthy boundaries. Each card presents a scenario where you can decide how to act in a kind and respectful way.
How to Use the Cards:
- Gather in small groups with your teacher.
- Each group picks a card and reads the scenario aloud.
- Discuss as a group how you would act in this situation to make sure everyone feels safe and respected.
- Act out the scenario for your classmates. After each role-play, talk about what worked well and what could be improved.
Scenario 1: Asking for Space
Situation: Your friend is playing with a toy and is in a quiet space. You want to talk, but you know your friend might need space.
Prompt: How can you ask your friend if they’re ready to play together without interrupting?
Think about: Saying, "May I join you when you’re ready?"
Scenario 2: Respecting a “Do Not Disturb” Moment
Situation: Your classmate has put on headphones and is reading a book alone. You see someone who wants to speak with them.
Prompt: What can you say to let your friend know it might not be a good time to chat?
Think about: Waiting until your friend has finished or gently asking, "Is this a good time?"
Scenario 3: Keeping Hands to Yourself
Situation: During playtime, one friend accidentally gets too close or touches another. The friend might feel uncomfortable.
Prompt: What can you do if someone is getting too close, or if you feel too close to someone else?
Think about: Politely saying, "I need a little space, please."
Scenario 4: Saying “No” Politely
Situation: A friend asks you to share something you’re not comfortable with at the moment. You want to be kind but also need to set a boundary.
Prompt: How can you say “no” in a way that respects your feelings and keeps your friend’s feelings in mind?
Think about: Using a calm tone and saying, "I'm not comfortable with that, thank you for understanding."
Enjoy playing out these scenarios and remember: it feels good to take care of your own space while respecting others' space as well!
Worksheet
Healthy Boundaries Poster
Welcome to our poster on Healthy Boundaries! Today, we are going to learn about personal space and how to keep ourselves and others safe.
What is Personal Space?
Personal space is like your own little circle. It's the space around you where you feel safe and happy.
Draw a picture of your personal space. Imagine a circle around you that shows where you like to play and feel comfortable.
How Do We Keep Healthy Boundaries?
Healthy boundaries help us know when to give others space and when to ask for space. When someone says they need a little room, we listen.
Write or draw one way you can show respect for someone else's space:
Think and Share:
What does healthy boundaries mean to you? Write or draw one idea about keeping your space or respecting others’ space.
Remember: It feels good when we take care of our own space and respect everyone’s space! Enjoy your poster and share it with your friends!
