Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

Begin by asking students how they feel when they have a misunderstanding with a friend. Discuss the importance of understanding our own emotions and those of others to maintain positive relationships. Introduce the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI).

Step 2

Video Viewing

4 mins

Play the video Emotional Intelligence. Ask students to pay attention to the four key skills discussed in the video.

Step 3

Individual Reflection Activity

10 mins

Have students individually write about a recent experience where they felt a strong emotion. They should identify the emotion, express how they dealt with it, and reflect on how understanding their feelings could have influenced the outcome.

Step 4

Reflection/Exit Ticket

6 mins

Students will fill out a reflection/exit ticket with questions about what they learned and how they can apply EI to their lives. Collect these as they exit.
