Behavior Superstars

Lesson Plan

Behavior Superstars Plan

Students will identify and practice three positive classroom behaviors—listening, sharing, and following directions—through discussion and role-play to become “Behavior Superstars.”

Establishing clear, positive behavior expectations builds a respectful, cooperative classroom community and supports students’ social-emotional growth and academic success.

Prepare Materials

10 minutes

Step 1

Introduction

5 minutes

  • Gather students in a circle on the carpet.
  • Show the Behavior Superstars Poster and explain that today they’ll learn how to be classroom “superstars.”
  • Briefly define listening, sharing, and following directions, and ask for a quick show of thumbs if they’ve heard these words before.

Step 2

Group Discussion

7 minutes

  • Write the three behaviors (“Listening,” “Sharing,” “Following Directions”) as headings on chart paper.
  • For each behavior, invite volunteers to share examples of what that looks like.
  • Record their ideas under each heading.

Step 3

Modeling and Role-Play

10 minutes

  • Explain that students will act out short scenarios showing good or poor examples of each behavior.
  • Divide the class into small groups of 3–4.
  • Distribute one Role-Play Scenario Card per group.
  • Give each group 2 minutes to practice, then invite them to perform their role-play.
  • After each, ask the class to identify which behavior was modeled and praise the “superstar” examples.

Step 4

Reflection and Reinforcement

5 minutes

  • Hand out the Behavior Reflection Worksheet.
  • Ask students to draw or write one behavior they will practice today and one way they can remind themselves (e.g., “I will use listening ears”).
  • Invite a few volunteers to share their reflections with the class.

Step 5

Closing and Transition

3 minutes

  • Review the three superstar behaviors by asking students to name them aloud.
  • Give each student a sticker or badge for being a “Behavior Superstar” today.
  • Use a call-and-response (e.g., “1-2-3, star power!”) to transition smoothly to the next activity.
